Jacksonville Jaguars

2018 Season

More upsetting: the ketchup or the teal bun?

I have wanted to have an update for this team for many moons. We are so lucky that our new home is an easy drive to Jacksonville and the newly named TIAA Bank Field. Last Sunday we grabbed some gear, practiced our 'Duuuval' chants, applied (not enough) sunscreen, and headed to downtown Jacksonville to cheer on the Jaguars vs. the New York Jets.

We enjoyed a nice walk to the stadium. Several rickshaw bikes stopped to offer us a ride (for free) which I thought was a very nice touch. The route is peppered with game day signs.

It rained just moments after we took this picture. Florida weather is notorious for quick changes! The venue is beautiful.

The highlight of the day for my husband may have been the Monster Slice Pizza that is offered throughout. It was like a dream come true for my pizza-loving spouse.

We had great seats and a fast paced game. The word of the day? Blazing. We were in the sun for a good chunk of the game, and it was a hot one. I think between the two of us we consumed 8 beverages (water, beer, Gatorade) and never even thought about going to the restroom because we sweated more than any human beings should ever sweat in public.

Check out the lucky ducks in the pool!

There were many, many Jets fans. Their bodies and their Sam Darnold fever melted as the game went on. We ate some very necessary ice cream, and were weirdly proud of ourselves for lasting the full game.

I can't wait to get back to this stadium. Next time I'll wait for a game in a cooler month!

***2015***

This game will forever be known as the one where my husband made gator stew.

We rounded out the meal with cornbread, Key Lime Pie, and Screwdrivers. Thumbs up for all of the sides, drinks, and dessert. I doubt if I'll ever eat alligator again, that gamy business is an acquired taste. There simply isn't enough cheese and crackers in this world.

I had a little bit of a hard time coming up with recipes for my Jacksonville game day, feel free to share your ideas!
